Commemoration of the birth of Pancasila in Dhaka

Indonesians around Dhaka, Bangladesh, commemorates the birth of Pancasila by participating in a ceremony held on 4 June 2017. The ceremony was held on the top floor of the Indonesian Embassy building in Gulshan area, Dhaka. There was an enthusiasm of the Indonesians in attending the ceremony despite that it is coincided with the month of Ramadhan. The spirit of Pancasila is visible from the presence of Indonesians comprising of various ethnics and religions.

Indonesians in every part of the world commemorates 1 June as the birth of Pancasila. Pancasila was the result of a unified process beginning with the formulation of Pancasila on 1 June 1945 and ending with the final formulation of Pancasila on 18 August 1945. The Founding Fathers of Indonesia believed that Indonesia can be joined in unity under not only one, but five principles encompassing deity, humanity, unity, people’s deliberation and justice.

 

Indonesia is all about diversity. From Sabang to Merauke, everyone use different dialects, like different kind of foods, and sing different type of songs. Indonesia has diverse ethnicities, local languages, local wisdoms, religions, but Pancasila become the spirit of unity.

 

That day, the slogan “I am Indonesian, I am Pancasila”, was taken to heart by the attendees of the ceremony.
