INDONESIA CONDEMNS TERROR ATTACK IN GULSHAN, DHAKA, BANGLADESH

Jakarta, July 2, 2016.  Indonesia condemns terror attack  in a café in Gulshan, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Friday, July 1, 2016. At least 20 foreign citizens were killed in this attack and several others were injured.

The Government and people of Indonesia convey the deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families during this time of grief.

Indonesia stands in solidarity with Bangladesh in its fight against terrorism and reiterated its statement the importance of closer international cooperation for combating terrorism that poses a real threat to the world.

At the time this statement is released, the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka reported there are no Indonesian citizens who become the victims of the attack. The embassy closely monitors the situation, coordinated with relevant authorities and Indonesian citizens in Dhaka.

The Indonesian citizens in Bangladesh are advised to stay safe, remain alert and cautious, and to avoid public places of possible terrorist targets, as well as to follow the direction and advice of the local authorities. Currently, there are 520 Indonesian citizens in Bangladesh.
