In August 17, 2014, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka celebrated the auspicious occasion of the Independence Day of Indonesia. The celebration started with a flag-raising ceremony at 09:00, which was attended by local staffs and Indonesian citizens in Dhaka. Also present was the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Chittagong. The ceremony was led by Mayor Dian ND with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Mr. Iwan Wiranata-atmadja as the ceremony inspector. The flag was raised by the members of the Flag Hoisting Squad (Paskibra).

After the flag-raising ceremony, all participants took picture with the ceremony inspector and all other ceremonial officer. Subsequently, the embassy expressed its gratefulness to the moment of independence by cutting a cake and a tumpeng as a symbol. The pieces were given to a local staff who has the longest working term in the embassy, a former staff who is now retired, and all ceremonial officers.

After the symbolic cutting, various games were organized, such as bakiak, sack race, and balloon dance. Games were also held for children, in which they were asked to carry a marble to the finish line, to put a pencil into a bottle without using their hand, and throwing balls into a box.

The event was concluded by delivering gifts to the winners of the games and sports events held previously in June. All participants then together enjoyed lunch.
