On February 28, 2016, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka organized “the training on earthquake preparedness and response”, and attended by the entire staff of the Embassy along with their families and the Indonesian citizens who live in Dhaka and the surrounding areas.

The purpose of the said training is to share the information and knowledge how to deal when the earthquake happens. The position of Bangladesh is adjacent to the Himalayan and Burmese plates which put Bangladesh in a high risk of the earthquake disaster.

Many experts warned that Bangladesh has a high risk impact of the earthquake due to its population density, buildings which built with inappropriate quality standards, urban planning inexistence, insufficient open space and swampland composition soil.

The speakers of the aforementioned training were experts from the Department of Disaster Management of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Disaster Preparedness Centre and Fire Service and Civil Defense of Bangladesh.
