Indonesian Female Students Conquer Mount Elbrus` Twin Peaks

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The team of The Women of Indonesia’s Seven Summits Expedition consisting of three female students of the Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar), Bandung, touched down the higher peak of Mount Elbrus’ twin peak in Russia on Friday, May 15. Before enjoying a friendly weather on top, the climbers had to go through thick snow and breath in thin air.

Fransiska Dimitri Inkiriwang (21), Mathilda Dwi Lestari (21), and Dian Indah Carolina (19), arrived on the 5,5642-meter height above the sea level at 12.35 local time or around 16.35 WIB.

“The team arrived at the peak through the southern track after a 7-hour-and-35-minute summit attack,” said a member of publication team, Alfons Yoshio.

“Elbrus becomes the second summit of the expedition that will explore world’s seven highest summits in seven continents.”

The climbers also went through three-day gradual aclimatization to adjust their body to environment in high altitudes before starting the climb.

On August 17, 2014, the expedition women had conquered Carstensx Pyramid in Papua. Next up after a break, the team is targeting to conquer Kilimanjari in Tanzania. The summit of Kilimanjaro is located at the height of 5,895 meters above the sea level.
