Prime Minister of Bangladesh Launched The Operation Of Railway Wagons Made by PT INKA

Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the operation of Sonar Bangla Express railway wagons made by PT INKA, state-owned enterprise of Indonesia, on June 25, 2016 at Kamalapur Station.

A total of 150 unit passenger wagons which were made by PT. INKA will be used to serve the intercity travel between Dhaka and Chittagong in Bangladesh. Besides that, another 50 units of wagons were also purchased from the India.

According to General Manager of Overseas Market and Development Product, PT. INKA, Wishnudartha Pagehgiri, “At the moment only 37 wagons have been sent to Bangladesh the others will be sent gradually by the end of September 2016.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Members of Parliaments, Senior Government Officials as well as government officials from relevant departments. The Government of Indonesia was represented by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H. E. Iwan Wiranata-atmadja, President Director of PT INKA, Mr. R. H. Agus Purnomo, Commercial and Technology Director PT INKA, Yunendar Aryo Handoko, General Manager of Overseas Market and Development Product, PT. INKA, Wishnudartha Pagehgiri, and Senior Manager of Overseas Market, PT. INKA, Wai Wahdan, Assistant Deputy of State Owned Enterprise Ministy, Republic of Indonesia, Wien Irwanto, Relationship Manager, International Division of Indonesia Exim Bank Indonesia, Ilham Mustafa, and , Head of State Owned Enterprise and National Interest Account, Indonesian Exim Bank Indonesia, Nilla Meiditha . The rest of Indonesian Embassy’s staff was also present at the event.

The inauguration of the passenger wagons, which were made by PT INKA, is a crucial necessity for Bangladesh Government to help it improve its transportation system for the people of the nation. This is not only an excellent opportunity for Indonesia to share its technological expertise with Bangladesh but also to strengthen both trade and bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
